While I patiently waited for my lunch one day, I could not help but be sucked back in time. As I glanced at the next table, a teenage girl and her grandmother were enjoying each others company while they consumed a light lunch. But it wasn’t the aroma of the food, or even the special relationship these two shared that transported me back to when I thought Cyndi Lauper was cool. It was what the young girl was wearing. “Isn’t that an outfit I had in high school”, I thought. Keep in mind that was 14 years ago.
While some ideas seem to evolve only in one direction, that is forward, fashion seems to revisit some of it’s favorite decades by “reinventing” clothes that the currect generation seem to take too. The 1980′s leggies paired with the belted shirt sporting oversized, bright triangles never seem to go out of style, right?.
Now if I could only get back to my high school weight.
